The concept of ‘real time’ is doing something as it happens or at the moment it occurs.
It seems like we live in ‘real time,’ but most of us really don’t. How can you not live in ‘real time’ while you are actually living?
Some people put things off, therefore, real time is delayed time. Procrastination at it’s best.
For people who never have enough time to exercise or eat right or spend time with their kids, etc., that’s absolutely not true.
You can find time – it’s always there. What you want to do, you’ll find time for- you can make time for anything.
Understandably, when you’re at work, you can’t just stop and do the things you want to do – but what about those moments when you can?
When you’re at home and you’re eating a bag of chips, your mind says, “Maybe I should eat an apple…”. In ‘real time’ you would put down the chips and eat the apple, but instead, you choose to ignore that thought.
That’s how living in ‘real time’ works.
When you’re binge-watching your favorite show and you think, “I need to write an outline for my paper…” stop watching it and create the outline for your paper. That’s ‘real time’ living.
We all know what we should do in out minds, but we seem to make the choice to ignore those hints. When we see others who are successful, we complain, “I could be successful like that, but I didn’t have time.”
The difference between you and them is that they listened to those mindful hints and applied it in ‘real time’. They acted upon those thoughts in ‘real time’.
They didn’t say, “Let me finish eating this ice cream first, then I’ll eat healthy,” or “I’m gonna sleep in – it’ll be there when I wake up, it’s not going anywhere.”
As you can see, living in ‘real time’ takes discipline and effort. Sometimes, we’d rather do what we want to do, rather than what we need to do.
Living in ‘real time’ accomplishes goals. You can’t be lazy and expect to achieve what you want – it takes ‘real time’ habits.
When you think it, do it – that’s all there is to it. Before you binge-watch your favorite show, get all of the ‘real time’ tasks and responsibilities out of the way, first. Then you can enjoy your shows with a sense of completion and fulfillment.
It’s been said that you can’t help the type of environment you were born into, but it is your fault if you stay there.
Some people are born into a negative environment. Whether it influences you mentally or physically, recognize that you have the ability to rise to a new level.
If you can fix your mental environment, eventually, your physical environment will change for the better, also.
It can be difficult to overcome pessimistic surroundings, but keep in mind, no one is coming to save you. You have to learn how to turn the negative into a positive, in order to be successful.
People in your environment may gossip, watch TV all day, or waste time worrying about things they can’t control. Give yourself a chance to exceed this type of mentality.
Just because you are around it, doesn’t mean you have to succumb to it’s negativity.
There are ways you can improve your mental environment. Here are a few recommendations:
Listen to a podcast. Nowadays, you’re not stuck listening to whatever’s playing on the radio. You can listen to any type of content that you like. There are literally thousands to choose from. Search for something that speaks to what you want to do or how you want to be. Even though there is a huge variety to choose from, don’t get caught up listening to the wrong thing. The point is to listen to words that can motivate you to live your dream.
Watch YouTube videos that strengthen your mind. Like podcasts, there are many videos you can choose from. If you’re interested in plant-based foods, there’s a beginner’s video for that. If you’re interested in learning how to integrate a certain software with another, there’s a specific video for that. There is so much to learn with YouTube videos – make it your personal video library.
Join a group. Involving yourself with a group can be encouraging and motivating. There are many select interest groups that have members where they can help you or you can help others with different challenges. You can even lurk around in the group until you feel comfortable with participating. Avoid groups where the members are negative – you want to be among like-minded individuals, who hold the same interests and goals as you do.
Escaping a bad environment is hard enough, but if you can protect your personal space with positivity, it’s very much worth the effort.
Listening to podcasts and watching videos are things you can do independently of others. No one has to know what you’re listening to or watching – it can be done without anyone volunteering their opinion.
Joining groups or masterminds involve other people. Some may be ‘know-it-alls’ or Negative Nancy’s. Don’t give in to those types – there are other people who are very helpful and can offer guidance and insight within the group. Stick with those types and ignore the others who may just want attention or be a negative leader.
Technology has provided us with so many options to be better in this day and age, the least we could do is take advantage of the best of it. If not, be prepared to be left behind in just about every aspect of life, because it is everywhere.
If you improve your mental environment, your physical environment will eventually follow suit. In today’s world, there is no excuse to not become who you are meant to be.
How many times has it crossed your mind that you think you’re not successful? You’ve been doing something for two weeks and it’s just not happening? Disappointed, you move on to something else, hoping it will give you the results you’re quickly looking for.
Everyone else seems to have it together. They’re making money, getting married, taking trips to the islands, but whatever you’re doing is not bringing you that type of joy that you see other people having.
When you see someone that is successful, you’re probably looking at their accomplishment after years of sacrifice and hard work. You didn’t see when they were up late at night or skipping the Friday night parties to work on their goals. No one ever sees that part, because it’s boring and weird.
The struggles they went through on financial and personal levels doesn’t phase you. It wasn’t important to you because that’s the part you don’t see – you’re not looking for the rain, you’re looking for the sunshine.
Today, many of us have ‘microwave’ dreams. We want to be successful without putting in the work. Becoming a millionaire should only take 2, maybe 3 weeks, right? That’s what it looks like on your social media feed, but in reality, it takes years.
With valuable resources, like the internet, it is possible to achieve a 10 year goal in 5 years or sooner, but, there’s one ingredient in the success recipe that never changes:
You must put in the work.
When you plant those seeds, it takes time for them to grow into a beautiful flower. You have to consider the soil, the weather, pests and other outside factors. Things will happen that weren’t supposed to happen. Something will happen out of the blue and time may not be on your side.
Waiting can be hard, especially when you’ve put so much effort into making it work, but yet, nothing has caught on. Keep working and waiting and putting in the time.
You never know when your time will come. You don’t know how close you are to accomplishing your dream. Those people on social media won’t talk about it, because it looks cooler to pose by the private jet and the new Lambo.
There is no quick and easy way to success. It’s something you must work on day in and day out, consistently. There may be .00001% of people who were successful at the very first thing they tried, but for the rest of us, there’s discipline, focus, persistence, time management, mindset, environment and other things to consider around us, before we blossom into that beautiful flower.
The waiting game is all about doing the work and being patient. A steady drop of water can wear a hole in a rock. Your time may not come as soon as you want it to, but if you keep pushing for it, the results will come.
Fear is an emotion that we all experience. Being scared can push you towards greatness or it can paralyze you.
When we think of fear, we think about monsters, death or something that suddenly startles us. We learn to avoid it at all costs and move on with our lives.
What about fear of starting? Fear of not knowing? Fear of failure? Fear can come in many different dimensions.
Fear is very sneaky and strategic. A lot of times, you create it yourself, as opposed to an outside force creating it for you.
Think of when you tell your friend about a great idea you had. You’re excited, energized and ready to take action.
When you eagerly tell your friend about your idea, she doesn’t react the way you expected her to. Instead, she responds with, “Mary tried something like that and nothing happened. What a waste of time.”
Feeling as thought someone sucked the life out of you (because she did), you take what she says to heart. You think about it for a while and decide not to even try. If it didn’t work for Mary, why would it work for you?
Your friend put fear in you – not a scary, ‘Boo!’ type of fear, but the fear of taking action.
Wouldn’t you rather see for yourself, how your idea would have turned out? Experience your own results? Just because everyone has already tried it and failed, doesn’t mean you won’t be the one to make it work.
We all have different work ethics and levels of discipline. Maybe Mary didn’t stick with it long enough or she didn’t have the resources to continue. It doesn’t even matter what happened in Mary’s situation, the point is, you should do it anyway!
Another type of fear that stops us from making progress in our lives is the fear of not knowing.
Hindsight is 20/20. It’s safe because you’ve already seen how a situation might turn out. That type of knowledge will keep you in one place for the rest of your life.
We’re not talking about the fear of being burned by a stove or juggling 20 knives. We’re talking about fear of possibility.
If you went on a job interview and didn’t get the job, don’t let that stop you from applying to another similar job. Fear will paralyze you mentally.
You never know what will happen. We tend to think through a scenario in our minds, without making the attempt through our own actions.
“I won’t pass that test, it’s too hard.” But what if you do?
“I can’t build an underwater rocket.” But what if you can?
If it sparks you, do it! You never fail until you quit – failing only shows you how to do it better the next time you try!
Failure is the path to your masterpiece – The Goalden Lady
You must put the physical effort into it, before you assign it a negative result. Otherwise, you’ll never know what’s possible – you’ll only know that it didn’t work out in your mind.
Fear is a dream killer. The only way to get over it, is to go through it. Don’t let fear put imaginary limits on you. Stop allowing others to place their fears and limitations on you – you’re not them.
You could be the person to succeed at figuring it out or doing it the best.
In order for your thoughts and ideas to come to life, you must have discipline. Discipline is developing a steady behavior by practice. Without discipline, you won’t get very far in your efforts.
There are a few ways you can enhance your discipline skills. Depending on your goals, discipline can be very easy or very difficult.
Eating ice cream everyday is a discipline. It’s not a good discipline, but it is a behavior that was practiced and maintained. Actually, it takes more discipline to stop eating ice cream everyday.
Exercising everyday is also a discipline, but in this case, a hard one to practice and continue. You need more concentration to enforce this habit, because it’s not as easy or fun.
No matter what the habit is, discipline is needed to constantly reinforce it. We think of discipline as something hard to do, but in the long run, it’s a great quality to develop.
Create a schedule. You can’t go wrong with this. Everyday, at a certain time, do your task. Improve yourself everyday at that specific time. Read a book, every night at 8pm, instead of watching that reality TV show. Work on your master plan every morning at 5am, instead of sleeping in. If it promotes your self-improvement, make time for it.
Use positive reaction. Let’s say you’re trying to drink 8 glasses of water a day, but it’s just so hard to do. In this case, find something around you that will trigger you to drink. Every time your phone rings, drink. Every time someone says your name, drink. Every time you smile at someone, drink. This will encourage small wins throughout your day, towards a bigger purpose.
Remove distractions. Developing strong discipline requires you to put yourself in a better environment. Wherever you find distractions that pull you away from your goal, remove it. Don’t walk down the ice cream aisle in the grocery store, if that’s what you’re trying to avoid. If you’re trying to stop sleeping in, set your alarm clock to the most annoying sound to wake yourself up.
Eliminate excuses. Making excuses is the main reason why discipline doesn’t work. You are in control of what you do and how you do it. Where there are excuses, there is no discipline. There is no reason why you are unable to win, when it comes to building a positive routine that leads to success. You are responsible for driving your life. When you stop making excuses, discipline can take you to the next level.
These are only a few ways to develop your discipline muscle, but you can come up with more custom ways that work for you.
Once you master one habit through discipline, start another one. Not only does it reinforce your productivity, it will definitely lead to many accomplishments.
It takes effort to be disciplined. Grow towards your potential today by starting small and sticking with it!
We all have potential -it’s there. There’s always an option, if we choose to use it. When we are faced with that opportunity, what do we do? Walk away, ignore it or embrace it?
Throughout life, we experience different situations and circumstances. Some situations and circumstances may be similar, but for the most part, no two are alike. Either you do the right thing or make the best choice.
Your decision should always involve moving forward (and doing the right thing). Sometimes, you get stuck – it seems too hard to do it the right way or it may cause you to have to start over.
Be a helium balloon. Practice the art of rising. It’s a great habit to develop and will keep you on the path of daily improvement.
Rise to the occasion. If you have an opportunity to do something different, make the attempt to do it. Backing away only enhances your ability to be more stubborn and stagnant. When you’re stubborn and stagnant, nothing happens. You’re here to live life and to experience the best of it, not to watch it pass by and regret it later. After you try it, if the opportunity is not for you, at least you know from experience.
It’s your fault if you stay down. Life happens. None of us likes to be knocked down, especially when we’re in a good place. Things can happen out of your control, but it’s not a sign to give up. When life knocks you down, your job is to get back up – not to get comfortable and stay there. If you don’t do anything to improve your situation, it’s your fault. Use your resources to get to where you want to be.
Rise everyday. Allow growth in your life. Aspire to something greater than you are now. Make it a daily practice to do better than yesterday. Be a better person and improve upon yourself on a regular basis.
The art of rising contributes to your personal progress. It forces you to be responsible for your own life. Too many times, we leave it up to others to guide and control how we live. Why let someone else write the book on your life?
Step up your game and play your part. Stop allowing others to determine your fate, just because it happened that way to someone else. You’re not someone else, you are a person who continuously bounces back, like a helium balloon!
Rise. Create and follow the path for your life. The fault isn’t in falling down – the fault is in staying down and not rising.
Once we graduate from school, most of us are glad to get out of the mundane, everyday cycle of sitting in a class, taking tests and doing homework.
Traditional school is the basis of your learning. It’s not perfect, but for the most part, it teaches you the fundamentals to get along in the world.
The path to education has changed the learning landscape now. Learning is no longer limited to a school building. Although this is the way we still provide education, it extends beyond that.
The internet has changed the education game. Twenty years ago, you couldn’t go to school online or listen to an in-depth podcast on what you like to do. Sometimes, when you’re inside the change that’s happening in real time, it’s hard to realize the benefits around you.
It doesn’t take any effort to learn anything, today. Back then, you had to learn AT school or ON the job.
Today, you can learn anything from the internet. You can Google it, watch the YouTube video or listen to the podcast.
Somewhere in that little device, is the answer to your question.
You want to learn how to install a car engine? Youtube it. You want to repair your credit? Listen to a credit repair podcast. You need a little inspiration, motivation or you feel stuck? Go to the Goalden Lady website.
No matter what it is, the answer is accessible – it’s there and it’s free! Don’t limit yourself by being stubborn and doing it the old way. There are so many options and possibilities now, it’s ridiculous, but it’s ridiculously great!
If anything, the internet has made learning more interesting and fun. It’s beneficial to everyone, on all levels. The best thing we can do today is take advantage of it. Gone are the days where you have to call, sit and wait for someone’s help. Today, you can grow and make progress on your own.
Make a decision to open yourself up and take a chance at becoming better. Achieving your goals still takes hard work, discipline and focus on your part in order to see success. The path of action may not be easier, but having (and using) access to your resources gives you more of a head start.
Keep learning. Self-education is key. We are no longer confined to a ‘one way only’ system. You can do so much more with technology today. You have the power, literally, in your hands. Learn it and leverage it.
No one knows how long they have left in their life. We have a habit of procrastinating and putting certain things off, thinking it will be better in the future.
Because we have lived this long, we always think there’s tomorrow. This works for having a plan and setting goals, because goals take time to accomplish, but there are some things that can happen now, like your happiness.
Being happy is a simple thing. It doesn’t have to be something big and elaborate in order for us to enjoy the moment.
Happiness can be a baby’s smile, a corny joke, or simply waking up in the morning.
Sometimes, people will tie happiness to an event.
“I’ll be happy when I get a raise.”
“I’ll be happy after I lose 10 pounds.”
“I’ll be happy if he even looks at me!”
“I’ll be happy if I get that car.”
Happiness can come from the result of something happening in your favor, but that’s not the extent of true happiness.
What about the smell of chocolate chip cookies baking in the oven or a hot shower after a hard workout? A cup of hot tea in the morning or putting on warm clothes, right out of the dryer? These are basic, everyday things that bring a moment of bliss into a busy life.
It’s not wrong to be happy once you have achieved your goals, but you can still allow happiness until that time comes.
Putting off your happiness can contribute to your overall well-being in a negative way. It doesn’t help being a grumpy person, blaming others and complaining about everything. Not only will other people not want to be around you, but you start to become dependent on other things to bring you happiness.
Happiness does not come from the outside. It is your choice to be happy and content. Other people will try to steal your joy, but don’t let them. They want you to be unhappy because they’re unhappy. By all means, don’t fall into that trap!
You are responsible for your happiness. Yes, joy may come from outside things, but that’s not the source of your joy. Before you walk out into the world, you determine your outlook for the day. It’s in your control, so why not start out happy?
Don’t delay being happy until something happens. Be happy in the meantime! It doesn’t have to be attached to a result. Find those little things that bring you peace of mind and joy on any given day.
If you are the type of person who has no problem with believing in yourself, you’ve pretty much already won at life. For those of us who have a bit more trouble…
Are you aware of this massive power that you have in your possession? Everyday when you wake up, you can decide to be as courageous or as cowardly as you want to be.
Some of us allow outside influences to make that decision for us, so we just go with the flow. Whatever happens, happens.
There are others of us who make that decision every single day and we choose to be as happy and confident as we want to be. Nothing’s going to bring us down — we can handle it!
Why can’t we all be that way?
We are all born into different environments. Some grew up in a loving, forward-thinking home and others grew up in a negative, stagnant way of thinking home.
When your surroundings are positive and motivating, it’s easy to believe in yourself. Everyone is always rooting for you and they acknowledge your efforts.
When your surroundings are negative, there is no acknowledgement for anything.Everyone is stuck in the same place, with the ‘it’s always been like this,’ mentality. The possibility of doing any better is nonexistent.
Although your environment doesn’t determine your outcome 100%, it does play a major part.
It’s hard to go against the grain in a bad environment. The easy way out would be to accept what everyone else is doing and continue to ‘go with it.’
The harder thing to do is be proactive. Even when people say negative things to you 20 times a day, you find a way to turn it around.
“I won’t give in.”
“I can break the cycle.”
“I can do better than this.”
“I don’t want to end up like them.”
This is what pushes you ahead. Although they keep telling you that you’re no better than them, you believe that you are and you can do better.
On the other hand, some people believe in themselves so much, they abuse it and think they can do whatever they want.
When you become used to things turning out in your favor, your efforts can become lazy. You don’t stop after success happens — you have to put in even more effort to keep it going.
As you can see, your environment can work for you or against you. Some people want to break out of their negative environment so bad, they do the total opposite of what’s around them.
Others come from such a positive environment, they expect people to believe in them everywhere they go. When they come across a set of people who really don’t care, they become depressed and fall into a trap of believing what others say about them.
These scenarios don’t happen with everyone, but again, the environment does have an effect on a person’s self-belief.
Let’s teach our children to believe in themselves, no matter what others say or think about them. Teach them that everyone is not going to be encouraging of everything they do. Some people will tease them just to get under their skin.
Most of all, teach them that their self worth is not determined by what others think. Believing in yourself can be difficult, but with the right foundation and mindset, we can push ourselves farther than our thoughts can take us.
Just make that decision every morning. I am courageous. I am beautiful. I am helpful. I am worthy. I am powerful.
Don’t wait for permission (you don’t need it) or for somebody else to tell you (you know it better than they know it). Believe it!
As a senior in college, I had three jobs. Two jobs were paid and one was an internship. As a full-time college student, there was a lot on my plate.
I went to school Monday through Friday. I worked during the week and on the weekends, as well. It was a nonstop schedule, but I liked the challenge of making it work.
Back then, my energy wasn’t a problem. You wouldn’t hear the words, “I’m tired,” come from my mouth. We were college students, who had time to be tired?
When I went out with friends, I always had money – my money. I never had to wait on my parents to send me money or bug them about it. With two paying jobs, I was financially set (at least as a college student).
I had to plan my time carefully. There wasn’t any room for forgetful mistakes. Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I went to class from 8am to 2pm. Afterwards, I would do homework and catch the bus by 4pm to go to work.
On Tuesdays and Thursdays, I had classes from 8am to 11am. I would go to my internship from noon to 4pm.
After work during the week, I would go to the library and study from 9pm until it closed at midnight.
On Saturday and Sunday, I worked from noon to 6pm. This was my schedule for an entire year.
Fast Forward To Now
When I think back on how I managed it all, it amazes me. If you asked me to do that same schedule today, it would surely be a challenge.
Things have changed over the years. Since technology has made most things easier, it seems as though life should become easier.
Instead of physically going to three jobs, seven days a week, I probably could’ve worked from my dorm on a computer. Maybe, instead of waiting for the bus, I could’ve called Uber. Going to the bank to deposit my check could have been replaced with direct deposit.
All of these things could have saved me energy, money and time. It sounds easy in theory, but we still have a tough time with these things today.
Making the Most Out of Your Energy, Money and Time
Your energy, money and time are the most important habits to develop in life. Not only can distractions take up your time and drain your energy, if you’re not careful, it can cost you money, too.
Being responsible with your energy, time and money can be beneficial. Everything you do in life, at some point, will intersect with at least one of these qualities. Having low energy, no money and no sense of time, will stall any progress you intend to make.
Also, it sets a solid foundation for your work ethic. It allows you to be dependable, trustworthy and responsible. You’ll have the ability to take on any situation, in a professional manner.
All of these qualities don’t happen on their own. Like anything else, it will take discipline and focus to reach your desired results. As you practice these skills, it will give you the confidence towards building a better you.
3 Things You Never Want To Waste
As you get older, you’ll learn there are 3 things that will slip away from you, if you aren’t careful.
Energy
Having the ability to do something for a period of time, without easily being worn down, is energy. There is physical energy and mental energy.
The good thing about both types of energy, is that it can be replenished. If you become tired, all you need to do is rest or get some sleep. Like a cell phone, you’ll charge back up and be ready to go!
You’ll want to direct your energy towards the most important things throughout the day. We experience peak energy times at various points and should take advantage of them.
Eating healthy and exercise contributes to our energy levels. Food is fuel for the body. Sometimes, we can get sidetracked by how good something tastes and indulge a little too much. This is what slows us down in our day-to-day actions.
Food is meant to give us energy. It helps to carry us through the day, even when stress is present.
Mental energy can be regulated, as well. When it comes to making decisions, our mental energy can easily become depleted. Routines and rituals can help preserve your mental energy for more difficult decisions.
Protecting your mind from negative energy is a habit that demands constant practice. It gives you a chance to improve and to become the ultimate thought leader.
Money
Being attentive to your finances will serve you well in life. The earlier you learn to control your money, the better off you’ll be.
People have different opinions about money. Some view it in a negative way, while others see the opportunity it can provide.
Money is versatile. It has the ability to support your lifestyle and to help you achieve goals. No matter how you see it, money is a resource that could help or harm any situation. In this book, we will learn how to manage it for our benefit.
The good thing about money is, if you lose it, you can always make more. As long as you apply the knowledge that guided you in the first place, you should never be broke.
Time
Time is the only resource that cannot be replaced. You can rest to restore your energy and you can replace money by working. No matter what you do, time cannot be captured, nor recovered.
The only way you can rewind or fast forward time is on a recording. It is a measurement that keeps going at a steady pace everyday, yet, it never stops.
We all depend on time. From the moment we wake up, to the moment we fall asleep, there are countless responsibilities that need to be handled. Without it, we wouldn’t be nearly as productive.
People always tend to put things off until tomorrow. Think of how much time has been wasted, every time we say that. Time doesn’t consist of ‘rollover minutes.’ Once it’s over, there’s no way to get it back. Therefore, we should learn how to use it wisely.
These are the 3 things that will carry you through all aspects of life, from beginning to end. Depending on how you respond, these habits will determine how easy or hard your journey will be.
We’ve all heard people say:
“I wish I had more energy.”
“I wish I had more money.”
“I wish I had more time.”
This doesn’t have to be you. Learn how to maximize your energy, money and time. The earlier you learn this, the better off you’ll be. Even if you’re older, you can still learn how to save it all.
Once you get these 3 habits down to a science, your quality of life will improve. The foundation you are building will make you mentally and physically stronger, financially capable and mindfully conscious. You will become the person you’ve always wanted to be.
Let’s start your journey.
