Even though most of us are adults, it helps if we have the energy of a child. Ever notice when a child sees open space, they just run? Nothing can stop them and they feel so free, that they can do anything. That’s how we should be with our work. Not afraid to run – just move forward and do it.
When we have a new idea, most of us tend to let it go. You might talk about it to a friend, but after they tell you all the reasons why it won’t work, you stall. This is not how it should happen. When an idea comes to your head, you should act on it right away. At the least, write it down so you won’t forget it. The objective is to take some sort of immediate action. Talking about it is not action. You can talk about it and brainstorm ideas, but some of us talk too long and it just ends up being pointless chatter.
Once you decide to take action, you must move. Do something. Figure out a plan and act on it. Do not allow it to linger until tomorrow. Develop a way to get started and begin to maneuver your way to the intended goal. Create a procedure that will put your ideas into motion. Write it on a calendar and hold yourself accountable, because you are the one responsible for your life. An accountability partner is fine, but ultimately, it’s up to you to get up and go.
If you come across an obstacle (and you will), use your brain and figure out a way around it. There’s always a solution to get past it. Doubts will come to your mind like a waterfall, but you must ignore it. It’s an easy way out. Take on the challenge and make a way to get through it. If you know someone who can really help, ask them. Weigh your options and decide on what you want to do.
Continue on this path until you hit your goal. Greatness will be upon you – you will break through those challenges, solve those problems, and achieve your goal. The awesome thing is, you can do this again! Whatever it is that you want to do, you can think through it and nail it. Yes, it will take time, but think of all the time you spend watching television or looking at social media. The space is wide open, so run like no one’s watching. Now go and do it!
